It’s a Chips and Berry Sundae!

By Farrel Hansen

In case you’re new to the site, every Wednesday, our team takes a break from the busy work week to take photos of adoptable animals at Sarasota County Animal Services. We like to call this “Lunch with Pets.” This week we had a chance to meet Chips and Berry.

Ladies, first! Miss Berry here is a female chocolate/tricolor Rottweiler mix. She is a spayed 1 year old who is still new to the shelter, coming to Animal Services at the beginning of April.

Berry was as sweet as pie! I loved her smaller size, as she weighs about 40 pounds. She was a pretty calm and laid back kind of gal. She gets along great with other dogs and the staff thinks she would also be very happy in a home with children considering how easy going she is. Want to make her day? Give this girl a belly rub and she will be yours forever. Berry is still learning some basic obedience commands from the great volunteers at SCAS but she already walks on a leash very well.  Looking for a walking friend? Berry would love to fill that void in your life!

Next up: Chips! Chips here is a male black and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I was very surprised to learn that Chips is only 11 months old. He had a wonderful, calm demeanor and was such a fun, happy boy! This strapping young lad came to SCAS back in March.

Chips is a very likeable pooch; He gets along perfectly with cats, dogs and people. He also has impeccable manners, showing his skills with sit and shake with ease. SCAS has had lots of interest in this handsome fella but no one seems to come back to adopt him, which makes me scratch my head. When I sat down on the floor with him, he was very excited for some attention! He’s loving, laid back and all around great pooch. Chips is also, in my opinion, the perfect size weighing in at just 30 pounds (his full grown weight).

Come on out to Sarasota County Animal Services and meet the Chips and Berry Sundae! For more information on this duo, please call 941-861-9500 or feel free to visit the Shelter at the end of Bee Ridge Road, east of I-75 by Rothenbach Park. Remember: Adopt! Don’t shop!

Chips and Berry’s stories are brought to you by Ace Pet Resort, a resort for vacationing dogs and cats to and from the Sarasota area!
