Improving our Paw Parks is an on-going commitment of Sarasota County. Working in conjunction with the Friends of the Paw Parks, fences and have been mended, cement areas added and now some basic agility equipment. Agility is a sport in which a handler guides their dog though a series of obstacles like hurdles, tunnels or weave poles.
Having the equipment available in our public parks give agility-curious people and pups to try it out, just for fun and determine if they’d like to go further in the sport. The County kept both large and small dogs in mind, and there is equipment on both sides of the park. It’s always a good idea to check with your veterinarian before trying a new sport with your dog.
A big thanks to Friends of the Paw Parks for their role in bringing this new feature into Lakeview Paw Park. To learn more about our local dog parks where pups can play off-leash, visit our Paw Parks section here.
