If you have a friendly, out-going dog being in a social setting with other dogs requires extra vigilance. We can’t assume that every dog wants to say hello or engage. Always ask the owner before approaching a strange dog.
Look for yellow ribbons on leashes – the ribbons are a signal to “steer clear”. But just because there is no ribbon, you still need to ask. It’s easy! Just four little words can make all the difference. “Can we say hello?”
