Sea Turtle season is upon us (May 1 – November 1). And, Sarasota County’s only dog-friendly beach is Brohard Paw Park.
The County does NOT allow dogs on any other public beaches. In addition, we have learned that there will be increased surveillance and reporting, as well as ticketing, of people who bring their dogs to walk on a public beach.
Please do not bring a leashed or especially an unleashed dog to the beach. We know this is a huge problem for Sarasota residents and their beloved dogs, and we have approached Sarasota County in the past to increase the beach access for dogs.
However, at this time, the only beach dogs are permitted on is Brohard Paw Park inVenice.
If you are spotted with a dog on the beach you could be approached by a Florida Wildlife Officer or a Sarasota County Police Officer and subject to a fine upwards of $150.00! Please abide by the current laws. For a comprehensive look at Sarasota’s Parks, please visit our Paw Park section.
