New Business Spotlight – Happy Dog Pet Salon

All Natural Dog Grooming in Sarasota

Happy Dog Pet Salon is brand new in Sarasota and a natural choice for dog grooming.

We stopped by for a visit with Sheri Fiset, the owner of Happy Dog to talk about her new business and philosophy of grooming.

The salon is tucked into a corner on Lawton Drive – right next to Frisky Business Doggie Day Care.   The big black and white puppy face, makes it easy to find.   Sheri’s done a total renovation on the space transforming into a soothing, aquatic theme.

Sheri’s philosophy is to keep the atmosphere low-key and relaxing.  She limits the number of dogs in the shop at one time, allowing four-legged clients to play freely.  Importantly the unique lay-out of the salon allows Sheri to have visual contact with guests at all time.       Crates are available but seldom used.

I think we all worry a little bit when we drop our dogs off for grooming.  It’s reassuring to know that your dog will be treated in a loving, caring way.  I asked Sheri about my dog’s feet which have become a little rough – she recommended a Paw-A-Cure, an all natural moisturizer and massage.  Doggie Facials are also available which help to soothe, hydrate and calm the skin using all natural ingredients of Chamomile, Aloe, Green Tea, Eucalyptus and Mint.  Under eye brighteners to help remove tear stains from little faces.

The salon features eco-friendly products, including soap-free shampoos and only natural herbal additives are in flea control products. Sheri specializes in scissor haircuts for all breeds. You can see her expert scissor work in the glamour shots here.

Sheri has an extensive background in pet grooming.  Since the age of 12 she worked with her mother, Mimi Petty, in her salon in Jacksonville.   As a young woman, Sheri set off for Los Angeles where she was a successful event planner for upscale functions like the Academy Awards .  January of this year marked Sheri’s next big event —  pursuing her passion – with the opening of Happy Dog Pet Salon.  By the way, Happy Dog is also a family affair, with mom Mimi joining Sheri on busy days.

Welcome home Sheri to Sarasota!

You can reach Sheri at 941-330-4270

The salon is located at 5636 Lawton Drive

(right off of Clark Road between McIntosh and Sawyer Road)
