Sarasota life provides a depth of beauty not found elsewhere; Gulf beaches, culture, nightlife and an international flavor. One of the jewels of our town is the Ringling School of Art and Design. Each year the school matriculates a wealth of students, some of whom choose to stay in Sarasota.
Laura Dresser is a recent Ringling Grad and a portrait artist with a whimsical style who has decided to stay. An animal lover, Laura has focused her work on dogs, cats and birds for the last several years. Her style is somewhat in the vein of noted illustration artist, Mary Englebreit.
Portraits can be rendered in traditional oils, photo paintings – using a picture of your pet as reference and enhanced through PhotoShop or through ink and water color. “Ink and watercolor is probably my preferred way o f painting. The unexpected discovery of line and color brings a smile to people’s faces”.
