The subject is Dogs: Temple Beth Sholom’s 1st Grade Writing Project

SarasotaDog.com recently asked  Ms. Jodi Behrenfeld if her first grade class at Temple Beth Sholom School would like to share some thoughts and ruminations in essay form on the subject of Dogs.  The stories submitted by the students were wonderful, thoughtful and truly spoken from their hearts.  We are delighted to share their writing here, in alphabetical order by the author’s first names.

First Graders from Goldie Feldman Academy at Temple Beth Sholom Schools

Alex: My dog is great. It’s a girl. Her name is Maddy. I taught her tricks! She can roll over and shake my hand! She is white and has one brown spot in the middle. She is a Boxer.

Cameron: I used to have a dog named Willy. Willy was a quiet dog. He is not alive anymore. I miss him so much. My dog is named Pepper. McKenzie and I both named her Pepper. My dog can dance. Pepper is so cute!

Camille: My cousin’s dog is named Holly. He is a hunting dog. He is brown and white. His tail is a little nub. He is a puppy. He doesn’t like tennis balls. He can run fast! He is cute. He is big, and I love him!

Carter: I love dogs. I might get a dog in December. I had a special dog. She did great tricks. She used to do what I did. Her name was Morgan. She was a very good, good dog and she was very sweet. I loved her so much. I wanted to kiss her. I had another dog. Her name was Hines. She was very good. I wish I had a pool so I could swim with her! I wish I had another dog and I would kiss it, too. I love dogs very much!

Charles: I would like a Golden Retriever. I would name him Fin. I would make him do a back flip and roll over. He would eat dog biscuits. Fin would sleep in bed with me.

Chloe: I have one dog. His name is Luca. He does lots and lots of things with me and my sister. He plays catch with me. We go on a scooter and he pulls us.

Clementine: I love my sweet dogs. They are so cute and fluffy. I have two Golden Doodles. I named one of them Nutella and the other Finnigan. Finnigan is my friend’s cousin. I like that because my friend’s dog is cute. I wish I were my dogs because they are fluffy! Dogs make my life a great life!

Hannah: I used to have three dogs. Their names are Sadie, Snickers, and Buddy. One day when we went trick or treating, Buddy ate all of the candy in Maya’s trick or treating bag. Sadie and Snickers used to jump on Maya, Mom, Dad, and me. Snickers is a very bad dog, but I still love him. I have the best dogs that I know.

Jack: If I had a dog I would name it Fluffy. I would get a Chihuahua. I would teach it spectacular tricks. I would bring it in the pool. I would bring Fluffy to school if dogs were allowed. I would sleep with him. In the morning, he would lick me and in the night he would sleep with me. I would give him food everyday.

Jacob: My friend Jack has a dog, but I do not know its name. He licks me a lot. At Halloween when I saw him, he gave me candy by his mouth.

Jonathan: My dog is Winston. He is 70 years old. He has black spots on his tail, gray fur under his chin, and brown eyes. He also likes to play ball and find. Winston doesn’t like water.

Melina: If I had a dog, I would name it Fluffy and for a nickname I would call it Fluffer. I would play Frisbee with her. She would be a girl. I love dogs. I would want a small and brown puppy.

Nachum: My dog can sit for a long time when I hold his toy. He will stay and his name is Max. He is white and very cute.

Noelle: I have a Golden Doodle. His name is Charlie. He has that name because he is cute. He is 4 years old. His birthday is June 4, 2007. The color of his fur is white. I love, love, love, love, love, love him. Once we were in the pool. There is a plant near the pool. It is so, so long and he jumped over it. He does not bark when people come over. He likes eggs. I always play with him. Once somebody called about the dog and said, “Where did you get that dog? He is so, so nice.” I love my dog!

Owen: My dog’s name is Taylor. Taylor is 12. He always waits for me to pet him. Taylor likes bacon strips. He gets dirty by rolling in soil. He scratches his butt on concrete.

Sydney: I have four dogs. Two are in heaven. I had a lot of fun with my dogs. We used to play a lot together. I would throw the ball.

Zachary: I have a Sheltie. He plays only with me. We play fetch and his name is T-Bone.
