We had a technical glitch this weekend at SarasotaDog.com HQ Not only did we lose connection to the outside world via the Interweb but DVR and TV services were also on the fritz. A quick call to Comcast resulted in a service visit from a technician, early … way early like 8:00 am on this day, Sunday morning.
Naturally upon his arrival and being greeted by the many legs that inhabit this place, our talk turned to pets and specifically dogs. What we heard from this charming young man stood our hair on end. It also occurred to us … that the TV Service Repair Guys and the FPL Meter Readers are really our best resources for knowing what goes on behind closed doors – they are our boots on the ground, and just about the only people most will open their doors to without question.
He told us about neglected dogs that he had personally re-homed, and calls to the Humane Society of Sarasota County that he placed to alert them to abusive situations. Thank god for this guy, and for all of his fellow workers who, If they See Something – Say Something.
Without their watchful eye, more hideous dirty secrets would go untold. More abuses committed unnoticed and more pain inflicted. So to all of the Sarasota County Workers, FPL, Verizon and Comcast – thank you for watching and thank you for stepping up and doing what is right for animals. We appreciate you, and Happy Father’s Day – whether you are a man or a woman, a father or a mother, or not, thank you for looking out for the little ones who can not speak for themselves.
