Celebrating Satchel’s Last Resort

Dog lovers and animal rescue supporters turned out last night to support Sarasota’s local rescue group Satchel’s Last Resort at The Polo Grill.  If you are not familiar with Satchel’s, they are a 501(c) -3 that assists last chance dogs, to rescue, rehab and rehome.

Their web site features Resident dogs who have found lifetime sanctuary at the shelter, and also Guest dogs who are available for adoption.

The lovely and talented Landers family chipped in with blood, sweat and tears as celebrity bartenders with all of the tips garnered last night going directly to the shelter dogs and cats care.

Iris Eastman, Executive Director of Satchel’s told us “the people of Sarasota and Manatee County continue to support our work and understand how meaningful it is to have a facility that provides a rehabilitation and rehoming for dogs that could possibly be on death’s doorstep.  In this case it takes more than just one village and we just couldn’t be in a better place.”

Satchel’s is always in need of donations not only monetary but for much needed items around the shelter.  Laundry detergent, blankets, bleach, and most of all TREATS1  Volunteers who walk the shelter pups use yummy treats to encourage dogs back into their kennels.  If you’d like to drop something off for the dogs (or cats) please email [email protected]

Many thanks to The Polo Grill for hosting this event to help animals in need!  More pictures in our gallery below.[nggallery id=68]
