More than 200 of Sarasota’s polished and poised participated in Gimme Shelter Pets Annual Hair of the Dog event Thursday, September 12th at the Ritz Carlton Sarasota. This year’s Arabian theme was Rock the Casbah.
Founder, Michelle Sampson organized the gala to help with mounting costs of healthcare and other expenses for the dogs that she rescues from certain death. A departure from the typical benefit in the same old restaurant; this event captured the spirit of a party, with lots of new faces in a fresh venue.
Attendees were regaled with a fashion show highlighting hairstyles on the cutting edge and nightwear. 
Henna tattoos, chair massages and readings boosted fund-raising efforts and added to the festivities.
Corporate sponsors supporting Ms. Sampson’s efforts in animal welfare included Century 21, Cool Today and a consortium of independents hair salons and practitioners from the holistic healthcare community. Kudos to the Ritz Carlton for their assistance and support of this amazing Sarasota nonprofit organization.
