Amber Parry and her Cavachon, Bailey spend most Sunday afternoons at Desoto Palms Assisted Living residence. Together they make rounds, visiting, wagging and being available to the folks who live there.
Although Desoto Palms is pet-friendly, most residents do not have pets now. That’s why its especially nice spend time with Bailey. Her wide eyes and hopeful wags bring cheer and a warming ambiance to any room
One of Amber’s regular clients, Jo, often spoke of her Olde English Sheepdog. Her dog was named Monty after Monty Woolley, a luminary of the theater and silver screen. See the resemblance?
Amber could tell from the look in Jo’s eyes that she and Monty (the dog) had a strong bond. She set out to find a local Olde English to visit with Jo. Several weeks later, enter George.
Although George is not a therapy dog his loving demeanor, represented the breed and brought Jo a world of joy.
George seemed to know he was needed and loved at that very moment.
George’s Mom, Patti has recently relocated from Houston to Sarasota to start a business with her family, a do-it-yourself dog wash, DIY DOG of Sarasota. Through serendipity and a little luck Patti and Amber were able to bring some sunshine to a very rainy weekend.
Patti and her other Sheepdog Winston will be returning in a couple of weeks to keep the love flowing. Amber and Bailey will continue their trips on Sundays. Bailey is certified through Alliance of Therapy Dogs and has been in action visiting nursing homes, schools and assisted living facilities for the past 4 years. Bailey is a mix of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Bichon. Amber is 100% human with a heart of gold.
