Training day with Nick D’Amato

With dogs, training really never stops. Your dog depends on you for consistency and to help keep him safe. Almost every dog has a little peccadillo or an unwanted behavior that might even arise later in life.  But by the same token, pet parents can sometimes need a brush up too.

Recently, a group of dog lovers met at Ace Pet Resort for an informal workshop to address specific issues with their otherwise perfect dogs. Trainer, Nick D’Amato spoke to the group about the importance of communicating with your dog, keeping their focus and rewards.

“Training sessions can be about 15 minutes” Nick explained. “You can introduce new tasks, but always end on an up-note, with a command that your dog has already mastered.”

A few dogs were barkers, some were fearful and others just so full of enthusiasm that they were jostling their fur siblings to meet Mom at the door. Each issue was addressed and pet parents were sent home with specific exercises to practice.

If you are interested in learning more about upcoming meetups or just socializing with other dog lovers – please join our meetup group – Sarasota Dog.

Need some help with training? Give Nick D’Amato a call (941)928-9949, or email [email protected].

Getting ready to travel? Be sure to call Ace Pet Resort for your boarding needs.
