Sarasota County Parks created a wonderful event at Woodmere Bark for pet lovers. It was on Saturday September 20th and featured rescue groups, The Sarasota K9 Search and Rescue and many interesting vendors. Because Woodmere Park facility has a large building on site, almost a small campus, many of the participants were inside with air-conditioning.
Especially impressive were the Search and Rescue dogs who were so poised and relaxed. Their handlers were very friendly and talked with us about the rigorous training.

Who couldn’t be charmed by the puppy faces from Rescue Garage? They were playful and very friendly!

Some incredible participants were there … did you know that there is a nonprofit that helps with Law Enforcement K9 needs? It is on one of the initiatives of the Retired Law Enforcement groups/Association of Southwest Florida. You can find them here www.reitredlefla.org
Also of special interest was Cindy Baker’s Touched by a Paw, she practices Healing Touch for Animals, which may help with pet behavior, health and/or emotional issues. You can find her here: Touched-by-a-Paw.com.
There were dozens of super-friendly interesting dog-folk there offering products and services for dogs and cats. If you missed it this year, be sure to start looking for social update in late August.
There was even a food truck!

This is a must-do event!
