Woof Gang Bakery Lakewood Ranch is tucked into the Publix Plaza adjacent to First Watch in Lakewood Ranch. From a distance, you might think the shop is an antique store or boutique. And . . . in way you would be right, it is a boutique dedicated just to dogs.
When you enter, you’ll see a pilgrim-size antique table filled with platters of cookies, cupcakes and treats made with all natural ingredients. Woof Gang’s cookies are healthy for your pooch and range from grain free to gluten free treats. Beyond the dessert table is a vast array of all natural/holistic dog and cat food, toys, leashes, grooming supplies and clothing.
We talked with Chris Dye, owner of the Lakewood Ranch store about how he selects his merchandise, “We shop for products that make sense for our customers here in Lakewood Ranch. We look for unique items that may not be found in a typical Pet Superstore”. Whenever possible, Chris buys from local artisans for special items like the portable Doggie “Place” Mats by Sarasota artist Ramona Fields. “Our customers are interested and demand quality food and products, excellent customer service and attention to detail. For food, the demand is for all natural and holistic. For products, they demand quality. For customer service, they want and expect exceptional service and we strive to provide our customers what they deserve with every interaction and transaction. For accessories, they are looking for the exception and unique items.”
While we were there, we watched while Aleysha, Store Manager helped find the perfect collar for a senior Westie. Aleysha sat on the floor while her little client wriggled and walked away. Patience and a little good humor helped the owner get her dog outfitted and on her way.
