Day 6 and you would think that with all of the progress we’ve made that it was day 60. After only 6 days with me, these two are on the way to being housebroken. This morning, the bedding in their crate did not even need to changed – they waited to go potty until they went outside!
Speaking of going outside, even Joe the Toy Poodle followed the rest of my little pack out last night. Granted, he hangs tight (like velcro) to the Yorkie, Ralphie, but outside he went!
The other major accomplishment is that they have both started eating and drinking out of the community bowls. I’m thinking that in a a day or two, I’ll take the food and water bowls out of their crate.
Another piece of good news is that Kickapoo Rescue has received an application on Jamaica Joe. I’m nowhere near ready to give him up yet. But there is interest from an excellent home that is willing to wait until he is ready and that is really gratifying.
With all of the news coverage of this Venice situation there has been a tremendous focus on the dogs pulled out of there which is great. Whatever we can do to heighten awareness for shelter pets and the amazing community we have is awesome. But there are lots of other great dogs that need help too.
Cashmere is a Yorkshire Terrier that I have been fostering for Satchel’s Last Resort. She’s 11 years old, 14 pounds (needs a little dieting), housebroken, very loving, and extremely happy. She would be the perfect companion for a retired person and would be totally devoted.
