The Unity Church of Sarasota’s Annual Pet Blessing was held on Sunday on the Church’s beautiful grounds. Dogs, cat and other pets flocked to the event to receive their blessings.
Blessings of the animals are held across the county in churches and other venues during the month of October as a tribute to St. Francis of Assisi. Known as the Patron Saint of Animals, St Francis was thought to have the ability to communicate with, and lobby on behalf of all creatures.
Local businesses that focus on pet lovers were also in attendance to meet and greet the community that they serve.
One special attendee, BEN (aka Being Extraordinarily Noble) attended with his owner Jeannine Brawn. BEN is a hybrid dog, a St. Berdoodle. At 119 lbs, he is all love and kisses.
