Palmer, Special Home Needed for a Special Boy

Contributed by Iris Eastman

Palmer came to us on Saturday fromManatee County Animal Services. He was a stray which is hard to believe as Palmer, at 8 months old, is deaf and has lots of trouble walking. He can walk for a very short distance and if he falls he can’t get up on his own.

X-rays were done by Animal Services and they believe he has a birth defect of his hind legs. Obviously we need further evaluation to see what we can do to give Palmer a wonderful, long, active and happy life.  He is as sweet as can be and just loved riding in the wheel chair that was just donated by Treasures Gift Shop in Venice to help train dogs not to be afraid of the wheels. It sure did come in handy!  Thank you Treasures

So, Palmer was named after a famous golfer as our golf tournament is this coming Saturday, November 1 at Prestancia. All the proceeds raised at the tournament will help diagnose Palmer further to give him whatever he may need.    We think Palmer is about 8 months old, under 40 lbs and good with other dogs.  He was found with three other puppies all of whom have been adopted.  Now we need the perfect home for Palmer, someone who can care for and enjoy all of the love this boy has to give.

Palmer’s story is brought to you by Ace Pet Resort  an award-winning pet care facility with a knowledgeable and caring team situated on nine beautiful acres for the discerning pet that craves personalized care and individual attention.
