Flying can be safe for dogs . . .

Did you know there is an airline specifically for pets? Yes! It’s called Pet Airways. On this airline, dogs can fly in the cabin making holiday travel a little easier. Here’s how it works:

1- Reserve a flight. Pet Airways rates range from $99 to $249. These prices are affordable, especially during the holidays.

2- Drop off your pet. Take your dog to the Pet Lounge of Pet Airways at least 2 hours before take off. If you need to drop him off earlier (up to 72 hours), you can. Pet Airways will provide lodging.

3- Your pet goes potty. Prior to the flight (less than 2 hours), your dog will be given a potty break. This way, he will be comfortable throughout travel.

4- Pets board the plane. Your dog along with the other travelers are put in pet carriers and loaded into the main cabin of Pet Airways. Pet attendants make sure they are safe and secure.

5- One person stays aboard. A Pet Attendant stays aboard Pet Airways at all times. This person checks on your dog every 15 minutes making sure he is okay. After the plane lands, your dog will be disembarked and given another potty break.

6- You get to pick up your pet. Your dog can stay overnight at the PAWS lodge if necessary.

As you can see, the entire process is pretty simple. Now, your pet dog can travel to the same destinations you go to on vacation, comfortably and in style. Book a flight today at PetAirways.com.

Farmer's Market Saturday

Season is upon us.  The market was really busy today with lots of four-legged visitors.    Some of the dogs were from as far away as Canada, some from the Carolinas and some local.  Tails were waggin’. Click on the event photos button at the top to see today’s shots

Road Trip — Travels with Collies

Our destination was a home on Powder Horn Mountain in Deep Gap, NC – in the vicinity of Boone. The house was in a gated mountain community offering us privacy and a short walk to a large pond at the back of the property which had a nice trail around it for walking. It was owned by an acquaintance who was willing to let us take our dogs. The trip up and back was broken up by a stay at the Wyndam Wingate, just off I-95 around Savannah, GA.
